CPAP machine comparison chart: how do the 7 models compare?
Seven new CPAP models were for sale at CPAP.com, The CPAP Shop, Lofta and Sleep Doctor on October 7, 2026: three from ResMed, two from React Health and two from Transcend. Four are travel machines that weigh under 400 grams each. Three are home machines with built-in heated water humidifiers.
A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine blows steady air through a mask to keep your airway open while you sleep. All 7 here are auto-adjusting, which means they can change the pressure through the night within a range your prescriber sets.

Source: SleepApneaSelect check of listings at CPAP.com, The CPAP Shop, Lofta and Sleep Doctor, and of each maker's user manual and product page, October 7, 2026. Prices are for each model's lowest no-mask package; masks, tax and any shipping charges are excluded. AirMini also needs a separate mask pack or setup kit. Six manuals state a 4–20 cm H₂O pressure range (centimeters of water). The G3 X manual says 4–20 hPa (hectopascals), while its product page says 4–20 cm H₂O. Those pressure units are close, but not identical. HME means heat and moisture exchanger, a waterless insert that saves moisture from your breath. Sound levels are maker-stated and come from different test setups; see Which CPAP machine is quietest?
G3 X note: One machine needs a note right next to it. The React Health G3 X is the subject of a May 20, 2026 FDA warning letter about its design changes. Read what the letter says.

How much does a CPAP machine cost?
New CPAP machines listed for $769 to $1,004 at CPAP.com, The CPAP Shop, Lofta and Sleep Doctor on October 7, 2026, for the machine alone in its base setup. The median of those model minimums was $858. A mask, tax and any shipping charges are excluded.
That's a $235 spread from the cheapest machine to the priciest. Put another way: for every $1 the cheapest machine costs, the priciest costs about $1.31.

| Model | CPAP.com | The CPAP Shop | Lofta | Sleep Doctor | Maker's own store | Lowest |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Transcend Micro Auto | not listed | $769 | $779 | $779 | $769 | $769 |

The machine is only part of the bill. Here's what else can add to the cost of CPAP equipment.
Does the same CPAP machine cost less at another store?
Five of the 7 models showed the same lowest listed price at every store that carried them on October 7, 2026. The Transcend Micro Auto was $769 at The CPAP Shop and on Transcend's site, and $779 at Lofta and Sleep Doctor. The G3 X differed by $15 because Sleep Doctor also offered a version without a heated tube.
Listed prices can differ from a final offer. CPAP.com says some of the brands it carries set a minimum price it can advertise. It also offered a bigger discount to shoppers who signed up with an email address, so the price at checkout can be lower than the listed price.
These two price gaps come from what's in the box:
- Sleep Doctor's AirSense 11 costs $40 more ($1,044) when it comes with ResMed's ClimateLineAir 11 heated tube instead of the plain SlimLine tube.
- Sleep Doctor's G3 X costs $15 less ($858) without its heated tube.
Return terms are another difference worth comparing between stores. On October 7, 2026, CPAP.com allowed one machine return within 60 nights of shipment, subject to its condition and packaging rules, with return shipping deducted. The CPAP Shop didn't take change-of-mind returns on opened machines. You can compare sellers' return terms side by side.
Where does the "$800 average" CPAP price come from?
The often-repeated $800 average CPAP price traces to a 2023 National Council on Aging (NCOA) product review. NCOA said that figure was the average "among those we reviewed," meaning the machines on its own list, not a national survey. That NCOA page returned a "404 Not Found" error on October 7, 2026.
The number didn't go away when the page did. Sleep Doctor's machine page still says the average CPAP costs $800, and CareCredit's cost guide, updated June 12, 2026, calls it the "national average" and credits NCOA.
How the $800 figure traveled| Page | What it says | Date |
|---|---|---|
| NCOA Adviser (archived copy) | About $800 "among those we reviewed"; also says machines average $649 to $989 | Dated August 2, 2023; live page returned 404 on October 7, 2026 |
| CareCredit | About $800 national average, credited to NCOA; $649 to $989 | Updated June 12, 2026 |

Other popular guides quote wider ranges, but they cover different things. GoodRx's $745 to $1,300 range includes an initial mask-and-supplies setup; its linked CPAP.com source puts the machine itself at $700 to $1,100.
What popular guides say a CPAP machine costs| Guide | Range it gives |
|---|---|
| SleepApnea.org | $300 to $1,500 for CPAP; elsewhere on the page, $400 to $1,600 for new CPAP or APAP |
| Sleep Foundation | $500 to $1,200 |
| The CPAP Shop | $500 to $3,000, "around $850" on average |
| GoodRx | $745 to $1,300 for initial setup, including a mask and supplies; cites CPAP.com |
| CPAP.com blog | $700 to $1,100 |
Source: each guide as published, checked October 7, 2026.
Here's the reality check from the stores themselves. On October 7, 2026, no new CPAP machine at the four stores listed below $769, and the median of the model minimums was $858.
How much more is a CPAP machine with a mask?
The 16 selected machine-and-mask bundles in our data listed $99 to $260 more than the same seller's machine package at CPAP.com and Sleep Doctor on October 7, 2026. For home models, we matched the heated-tube option; AirMini bundles add connection parts to the bare machine. The gap depends on the mask and other supplies included.
Machine-and-mask bundles vs. the machine alone, October 7, 2026| Bundle | Store | Bundle price | Machine alone | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| React Health G3 X* + Nova Nasal mask | CPAP.com | $972 | $873 | +$99 |

The extra is not the mask price alone. G3 X: see the FDA warning-letter note.
What do bilevel (BiPAP) machines cost?
The three bilevel models compared below listed for $1,499 to $1,836 across the same four stores on October 7, 2026. A bilevel machine uses one pressure when you breathe in and a lower one when you breathe out. Your prescriber decides whether you need one.
Bilevel (BiPAP) machine prices, October 7, 2026| Model | CPAP.com | The CPAP Shop | Lofta | Sleep Doctor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| React Health Luna G3 BPAP 25A | $1,549 | $1,499 | $1,499 | $1,499 |
| ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto | $1,776 | $1,776 | $1,776 | $1,776 |
| ResMed AirCurve 11 VAuto | $1,796 | $1,836 | $1,796 | $1,796 |
Source: store listings and exact configurations in the store-price CSV, checked October 7, 2026. AirCurve 11 is $1,796 with standard tubing at CPAP.com, Lofta and Sleep Doctor; The CPAP Shop's $1,836 setup includes heated tubing. This table covers three models; other bilevel and ASV models are outside it. ASV listings that showed "call for price" are left out.
Is the AirSense 11 really only $44 more than the AirSense 10?
Not once you match what's in the box. The $960 AirSense 10 packages at Sleep Doctor, CPAP.com and The CPAP Shop name a ClimateLineAir heated tube, while the $1,004 AirSense 11 comes with a plain SlimLine tube. Add the AirSense 11's heated tube and the gap grows from $44 to $84 at Sleep Doctor and $90 at CPAP.com.
A heated tube warms the air on its way to your mask, so less water collects inside the hose. If you want one on an AirSense 11, you pay for it separately or buy a version that includes it.
AirSense 10 vs. AirSense 11 with heated tubes, October 7, 2026| Store | AirSense 10 package | AirSense 11 base | Heated tube for AirSense 11 | AirSense 11 with heated tube | Gap with heated tubes | Gap at base price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sleep Doctor | $960 (tube included) | $1,004 | +$40 (version with ClimateLineAir 11) | $1,044 | $84 | $44 |
| CPAP.com | $960 (tube included) | $1,004 | +$46 (ClimateLineAir, Air 11 version, sold separately) | $1,050 | $90 | $44 |
Source: SleepApneaSelect calculation from Sleep Doctor AirSense 10, Sleep Doctor AirSense 11, CPAP.com AirSense 10, CPAP.com AirSense 11 and CPAP.com ClimateLineAir tubing, checked October 7, 2026. Excludes the mask, tax, shipping and later supplies. This matches the heated-tube feature, not every item in the box: CPAP.com's AirSense 11 total also keeps the included SlimLine tube.
The math is short. At CPAP.com: $1,004 + $46 = $1,050, and $1,050 − $960 = $90. At Sleep Doctor: $1,044 − $960 = $84. Either way, the real gap is about twice the $44 you see at first glance.

Two more things to know before you buy:
- The heated tubes aren't swappable. CPAP.com sells ClimateLineAir in separate "For Air 10 Series" and "For Air 11 Series" versions, $46 each.
- The AirSense 10 version matters. ResMed describes connected and Card-to-Cloud versions. Connected units can use myAir; Card-to-Cloud units cannot. More in Which app or data connection does each CPAP use?
Which masks work with each CPAP machine?
Six of the 7 machines provide a standard 22 mm mask connection. The two Transcend machines still need their custom hose connection at the machine. The ResMed AirMini works only with the 7 ResMed masks on ResMed's AirMini list. On ResMed's own compatibility list, the AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 got the same yes/no answer for all 13 masks we checked.
That's 39 mask-and-machine pairs. Twenty-nine were compatible and 10 were not, and 6 of the 10 "no" answers belong to the AirMini. We found no named-mask compatibility matrix in the React Health sources we checked.

Source: ResMed Mask/Device Compatibility List, document 1017959/34 (Americas, March 2026), checked October 7, 2026; AirFit F30 humidity note from ResMed's AirMini page. For AirSense machines, ResMed's list shows the mask setting to choose rather than a check mark. "Compatible" means ResMed lists the pair. It doesn't mean the mask will fit your face.
Two words in that table need a quick translation. SmartStart turns the machine on when you breathe into the mask, and SmartStop turns it off when you take the mask off. ResMed's list says those features may not work as described with some masks, so check your machine's user guide if you count on them.
Notice the AirFit F40 row. It's a full face mask, but ResMed's list tells you to set the machine to "Pillows" when you use it. None of the store comparison charts we read included mask settings.
Which AirMini masks work with waterless humidity?
Six of the 7 masks on ResMed's AirMini list can use a waterless humidity insert. HumidX and HumidX Plus work with the nasal and nasal pillows masks, and HumidX F20 works with the two F20 full face masks. ResMed says waterless humidification isn't currently available with the AirFit F30.
The AirMini has no water tank. Instead, these inserts work like an HME (heat and moisture exchanger): they catch warmth and moisture from your breath and hand it back on the next breath.

So if you love your AirFit F30 and want waterless humidity on a plane, the AirMini can connect it, but it can't humidify it.
Does a standard 22 mm connection mean every part fits?
No. The mask end of the hose may be standard while the hose and humidifier parts are not. ResMed's ClimateLineAir heated tube comes in separate Air 10 and Air 11 versions. React Health ships the Luna TravelPAP with a 15 mm tube and lists 15 mm or 19 mm tubes with 22 mm connectors. The smaller number is the width inside the hose; 22 mm is the connection size.
Transcend says its Micro machines work with masks that have a standard 22 mm connection, but the machine end uses Transcend's custom hose connection. G3 X and Luna TravelPAP have standard 22 mm outlets. That does not verify every named mask or humidity setup; use parts recommended by the maker or your prescriber.
Which CPAP machine is quietest?
The published numbers can't crown one winner. Makers state 25 to 31 dBA for these 7 machines, measured in different setups, and each maker prints an uncertainty of ±2 dBA. Transcend's Micro 510 shows why the setup matters: 31 dBA under the standard ISO test and 27 dBA under Transcend's own in-house method.
dBA means decibels adjusted for how people hear. A 1- or 2-decibel "win" sits inside the margin of error the makers print themselves.
Stated sound levels and how each was measured| Machine | Stated sound pressure | Uncertainty | How it was measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| ResMed AirSense 10 | 25 dBA without humidification; 27 dBA with humidification | ±2 dBA | ISO 80601-2-70:2015, CPAP mode |
| ResMed AirSense 11 | 25 dBA with side cover; 27 dBA with water tub half full | ±2 dBA | ISO 80601-2-70:2015, CPAP mode |
| React Health G3 X* | Up to 28 dBA | ±2 dBA | At 10 hPa (about 10 cm H₂O) |
| ResMed AirMini | 29 dBA | ±2 dBA | ISO 80601-2-70:2015, CPAP mode |
| React Health Luna TravelPAP | Up to 30 dBA | ±2 dBA | At 10 hPa (about 10 cm H₂O) |
| Transcend Micro 510 | 31 dBA (standard test); 27 dBA (in-house test) | ±2 dBA each | ISO 80601-2-70:2020, static 10 cm H₂O, no mask; separate in-house "typical use" method |
| Transcend Micro Auto | 31 dBA (standard test); 27 dBA (typical use) | ±2 dBA each | ISO 80601-2-70:2020, static 10 cm H₂O; 27 dBA is separately footnoted as a typical-use result |
Source: maker user manuals: AirSense 10, AirSense 11, G3 X, AirMini, Luna TravelPAP, Micro 510, Micro, checked October 7, 2026. These are maker statements, not our tests. G3 X: see the FDA warning-letter note.
Transcend markets the Micro 510 at 27 dBA. Its manual explains where both numbers come from. The standard test runs in a sound booth with no mask attached, and Transcend says that doesn't match what you hear in bed. The 27 dBA figure comes from Transcend's own method and isn't part of the standard's conformity testing.
Neither number is wrong. They answer different questions. The original Micro manual also lists 31 dBA under the standard test and a separate 27 dBA typical-use figure. That's also why this page shows noise as a table, not a ranked chart.
Which CPAP machine is lightest?
The Transcend Micro Auto has the lowest exact published device weight in this comparison: 219.5 grams (0.48 pound). The Transcend Micro 510 weighs 223.4 grams, per Transcend's manuals. React Health lists the G3 X at 1.7 kilograms without saying which parts that includes. On average, the 4 travel models list for $105 less than the 3 home models.
For a feel of the scale: 219.5 grams is a little less than a U.S. measuring cup of water, which weighs about 237 grams. Both Transcend machines have published device weights about a quarter less than the ResMed AirMini's 300 grams. For the original Micro, (300 − 219.5) ÷ 300 × 100 = 26.8%. For the Micro 510, (300 − 223.4) ÷ 300 × 100 = 25.5%. Unit sources.

| Group | Average lowest listed price |
|---|---|
| 4 travel machines (Micro Auto, Micro 510, AirMini, TravelPAP) | $836 |
| 3 home machines (AirSense 10, AirSense 11, G3 X*) | $941 |
Source: SleepApneaSelect calculation from maker manuals and store listings, checked October 7, 2026. Price averages use the lowest no-mask offer for each model and are rounded to the nearest dollar. We do not average weights across these groups: React Health states TravelPAP only as "under 400 g," both AirSense weights include a water tub, and the G3 X's setup is not stated. G3 X: see the FDA warning-letter note.
Lighter comes with trade-offs. None of the 4 travel machines has a heated water humidifier, and none has built-in cellular data; they sync through a phone app instead. And your bag will hold more than the machine: count the power supply, hose, mask and any battery.
Which CPAP machines work at high altitude?
Of these 7 models, only the ResMed AirSense 11 is rated to run above 8,500 feet, up to 9,870 feet, per ResMed. The AirSense 10 and AirMini are rated to 8,500 feet, the two Transcend machines to 8,000 feet, and React Health's G3 X and Luna TravelPAP to 2,300 meters (about 7,546 feet).
These are the makers' stated operating limits. None of the retail comparison charts we looked at lists them.

Say you're heading to a cabin at 8,200 feet. By these ratings, neither Transcend machine nor either React Health machine is rated for that height. The AirSense 10, AirSense 11 and AirMini are. If you'll sleep near any of these limits, ask the maker or your equipment provider before you go.
Can you fly with a CPAP machine?
Yes. On flights covered by 14 CFR 382.133, U.S. airlines must allow a passenger with a disability to use a labeled CPAP on planes designed for more than 19 seats, subject to the rule's safety and stowage conditions. On-demand air taxis are excluded. The makers of all 7 models state that their machines meet FAA requirements. Under 14 CFR 382.121, assistive devices such as a CPAP do not count toward the carry-on limit on covered flights.
Before you fly, check that your machine carries the maker's label the rule mentions.
The same rule lets an airline ask for a little planning. It may ask you to contact it 48 hours before the flight to work out how many batteries you need. It may also ask you to check in up to 1 hour earlier than its usual cutoff. The rule lists a doctor's statement only for portable oxygen concentrators, not for CPAPs. An airline may require enough charged batteries for 150% of the expected maximum flight time. For a 6-hour flight, that means power for 9 hours.
FAA limits for spare lithium-ion batteries| Battery size | What the FAA allows |
|---|---|
| Up to 100 Wh | Allowed; spares must go in carry-on bags |
| Over 100 through 160 Wh | Up to 2 spares, with airline approval |
| Over 160 Wh | Forbidden |
Source: FAA PackSafe, spare lithium batteries, checked October 7, 2026. Wh (watt-hours) measures how much energy a battery holds; it's printed on the battery. All spare lithium-ion batteries go in carry-on bags, with terminals protected from short circuits. Airlines may set stricter limits.
Power options the makers list for the travel machines| Machine | Built-in battery? | Power options the maker lists |
|---|---|---|
| ResMed AirMini | No | AC power supply; ResMed DC/DC converter (65 W) for 12 V or 24 V sources |
| Transcend Micro Auto | No | Optional PowerAway battery, 71 Wh ($349.95); up to 17.5 hours per Transcend |
| Transcend Micro 510 Auto | No | Optional PowerAway battery, 71 Wh ($349.95); up to 17.5 hours per Transcend |
| React Health Luna TravelPAP | No | AC adapter included; optional 12 V DC adapter; optional Pilot-19 Lite TravelPAP battery, 95 Wh, with the TravelPAP cable kit |
Source: ResMed AirMini page, Transcend Micro Auto, Transcend PowerAway battery, React Health TravelPAP accessories, and TravelPAP battery, checked October 7, 2026.
Transcend rates the PowerAway at 71 Wh. Its claimed runtime is up to 17.5 hours; pressure, mask type, altitude, leaks and other factors change how long it lasts. Check the battery label and your airline's rules before you pack it.
Which app or data connection does each CPAP use?
The ResMed AirSense 11 has Bluetooth and a cellular connection and works with ResMed's optional myAir app. AirSense 10 comes in connected and Card-to-Cloud versions. Connected units use cellular data and can show results in myAir; Card-to-Cloud units use an SD card and do not work with myAir. The travel machines use their own phone apps: AirMini, MySleepDash and LightTrip.
App and data connection by machine| Machine | App or data path |
|---|---|
| ResMed AirSense 11 | Bluetooth and cellular; myAir app |
| ResMed AirSense 10 | Connected: cellular, SD card and myAir. Card-to-Cloud: SD card, no myAir. No direct Bluetooth pairing. |
| React Health G3 X* | 4G cellular, QR code and SD card |
| ResMed AirMini | AirMini app |
| Transcend Micro Auto and Micro 510 | MySleepDash app |
| React Health Luna TravelPAP | LightTrip (US) app |
Source: AirSense 11 user guide, ResMed AirSense 10 page, G3 X sell sheet, ResMed AirMini page, Transcend, Luna TravelPAP manual, checked October 7, 2026. G3 X: see the FDA warning-letter note.
Here's a catch worth a phone call. Lofta and Sleep Doctor call their AirSense 10 offers "Connected," while ResMed's general page describes a Card-to-Cloud option for direct purchase. CPAP.com's listed model 37208 matches ResMed's AutoSet package with HumidAir and ClimateLineAir, but its Bluetooth-pairing description conflicts with ResMed's myAir guide: AirSense 10 does not pair directly with myAir over Bluetooth. If app tracking matters to you, ask the seller which AirSense 10 version you'll get and confirm cellular support before you order.
What changed for CPAP buyers in 2026?
Three things stand out. Philips still isn't selling new CPAP machines in the U.S., the FDA sent a warning letter about the React Health G3 X, and older Luna G3 APAP units were recalled. Separately, Breas discontinued its Z Sleep travel line, and Fisher & Paykel stopped selling its SleepStyle in the U.S.
Philips: still out of the U.S. market for new machines
Philips Respironics isn't selling new CPAP machines in the U.S. under a consent decree that a federal court entered on April 9, 2024, according to the FDA. The decree followed Philips' June 2021 recall, which the FDA says affected 15 million devices worldwide. Philips says it will resume U.S. sales only after meeting the decree's requirements (FAQ dated May 6, 2026).
None of the four stores listed a new Philips CPAP on October 7, 2026.
React Health G3 X: the FDA's May 20, 2026 warning letter
On May 20, 2026, the FDA sent a warning letter to BMC Medical, the company that develops the G3X APAP (model G4600) that React Health imports. The FDA said the G3X is adulterated and misbranded because BMC made significant design changes to its cleared Luna CPAP system without filing a new 510(k), the FDA filing these changes required before sale. The FDA said it will decide whether the product may be legally marketed after reviewing BMC's response.
In plain words: the FDA says the G3X needed its own review before it went on sale, and BMC didn't file for one. The letter is addressed to the company and doesn't announce a recall.
React Health's CEO told HME News that React Health and BMC are working with the FDA to address its observations. In our October 7, 2026 check, we found no later FDA clearance or close-out notice resolving this G3 X issue, and all four stores still listed the G3 X. If you use or are considering a G3 X, ask your equipment provider about its current status.
Luna G3 APAP (model LG3600): a Class I recall
An FDA-posted recall notice covers 20,160 Luna G3 APAP units (model LG3600) distributed in the U.S. with firmware G3-2.00.76 and configuration G3 A20-31.cfg, which contained a defect. (Firmware is the machine's built-in software.) BMC Medical updated affected units to firmware G3-2.00.77, but says it cannot confirm that up to 196 received the update. The FDA recall database confirms Class I, its most serious category, on August 19, 2026 (recall number Z-2979-2026).
The notice was revised on October 1, 2026. It says patients should keep using the device as prescribed until a replacement arrives. Owners can check a serial number with BMC's lookup tool and contact React Health at 3B-Recall@reacthealth.com or their equipment provider. The Luna G3 is an older model; the G3 X in our comparison is a different machine.
Breas Z2 and Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle
Breas says it has discontinued its Z Sleep travel CPAP line, including the Z2 Auto, and will sell service parts and accessories through October 2030. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare says it no longer sells its SleepStyle CPAP in the U.S. and will keep supporting current users through their equipment providers.

If you're choosing a machine for your own prescription, Find My Next Step lists what to check with the seller and your prescriber before you buy.
How we built this CPAP comparison database
On October 7, 2026, we checked the CPAP machine listings at CPAP.com, The CPAP Shop, Lofta and Sleep Doctor, plus Transcend's own store. We read the full machine catalogs, including later pages, and counted every CPAP or auto-CPAP model family offered new by at least one of the four stores. Colors, tubing options, bundles and connected/Card-to-Cloud versions do not add models. Used, refurbished and discontinued listings are excluded. Bilevel machines appear only as price context.
For each model and store, we recorded the lowest available no-mask setup, keeping the included tubing visible. A base package can include a heated tube; AirMini needs separate connection parts. We then took the lowest offer across the four stores for each model. Other tubing versions and 16 selected machine-and-mask bundles are recorded separately. For home-machine bundles, we subtract the same seller's machine price with the same tubing, so a tube upgrade is not counted as the price of the mask. AirMini bundle premiums include the required hose and connection parts, because its base machine comes without them. Where a store page didn't say which setup a price covered, we read the store's product data for the exact variant (Sleep Doctor's AirSense 11 and G3 X, and Lofta's Micro Auto).
Specs come from each maker's user manual, sell sheet or product page. Store-listed specs aren't used, because several store charts we read had missing or wrong entries. Mask results come from ResMed's March 2026 compatibility list, revision 1017959/34, and its current AirMini page and setup-kit pages. We read the matrix's rendered full-face, nasal and pillows pages to check all 39 selected pairs, their settings and footnotes. The FDA, Philips, Breas and Fisher & Paykel items come from those organizations' own pages.
We computed the range, median, average prices, bundle extras, heated-tube gaps, device-weight comparisons and mask counts ourselves. The median is the fourth of the seven sorted model minimums: $769, $825, $829, $858, $919, $960 and $1,004. It is not a sales-weighted U.S. average. Every input is in the downloadable files, with its source URL and check date, so anyone can repeat the math. This is an analysis of published sources. We didn't test machines, survey anyone or buy anything. Our comparison method explains how the site keeps prices, packages and seller terms apart.
Edition note: First data edition, October 7, 2026.
What this data does and doesn't show
It shows the listed prices, published specs and maker statements for the 7 new models at four stores on one date.
It doesn't show:
- Every seller. These are four online stores. Other sellers, suppliers who bill insurance, and used or refurbished machines aren't included.
- Checkout prices. These are listed prices. Coupons and email-only discounts can lower them; tax and shipping can raise them.
- Comparable noise. Sound levels are maker statements from different test setups. Both Transcend manuals separate a 31 dBA standard result from a 27 dBA typical-use result; the Micro 510 manual explains its separate in-house method.
- Equal weights. Weights cover different setups. Some include the water tub; the TravelPAP figure is an upper limit; React Health doesn't say what the G3 X weight includes.
- Mask fit. "Compatible" means ResMed lists the pair. It doesn't mean a mask will fit or feel right on your face. A general 22 mm connection rule is not a verified result for a named mask or humidity setup.
- Altitude advice. Altitude figures are the makers' operating limits, not medical guidance.
- Treatment choices. Your prescription and prescriber decide the machine type and settings. Nothing here is medical advice.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best CPAP machines, and how do they compare?
No spec sheet names a single best machine; your prescription and comfort decide that. The 7 models sold new across four U.S. stores on October 7, 2026 have listed prices of $769 to $1,004. Compare the published weight setups, humidity options, mask limits and altitude ratings as well; the weights are not all measured with the same parts.
How much does a CPAP machine cost without insurance?
New CPAP machines listed for $769 to $1,004 for the machine alone at four U.S. online CPAP stores on October 7, 2026, with a median of $858. The 16 selected mask bundles added $99 to $260 over the same seller's machine package, matching heated-tube options for home models. AirMini premiums also include its connection parts; some home bundles add filters. Tax, any shipping charges and later supplies are excluded.
What's the cheapest new CPAP machine?
In our four-store comparison, the Transcend Micro Auto was cheapest: $769 at The CPAP Shop on October 7, 2026 ($779 at Lofta and Sleep Doctor). Transcend's own site also listed it at $769. It's a travel machine that weighs 219.5 grams and can use an optional waterless humidity insert instead of a water tank.
Are travel CPAP machines quiet?
They're in the same range as home machines on paper: makers state 27 to 31 dBA for the four travel models, each with ±2 dBA uncertainty. The tests differ, though. Transcend's Micro 510 is 31 dBA under the standard test and 27 dBA under Transcend's in-house method.
What's the lightest CPAP machine?
The Transcend Micro Auto has the lowest exact published device weight in this comparison, at 219.5 grams (0.48 pound). The Micro 510 weighs 223.4 grams and the ResMed AirMini 300 grams. Luna TravelPAP is listed only as under 400 grams, so it cannot be given an exact weight rank. Your packed kit weighs more.
Can I use my current mask with a travel CPAP?
It depends on the machine. The ResMed AirMini works only with the 7 ResMed masks on its list, with the matching mask pack or setup kit. Transcend provides a standard 22 mm mask end through its custom hose, and Luna TravelPAP has a 22 mm outlet. We found no named-mask matrix in React Health's sources; confirm the exact mask and humidity setup.
Does the AirFit F40 work with the AirMini?
No. ResMed's compatibility list marks the AirFit F40 as not compatible with the AirMini. It is compatible with the AirSense 10 and AirSense 11, with the machine's mask setting on "Pillows."
Can I fly with a CPAP, and does it count as a carry-on?
Yes, you can fly with one. On covered U.S. airline flights, a labeled CPAP can be used under the safety and stowage conditions described above, and an assistive device does not count toward the carry-on limit. Spare lithium-ion batteries must go in carry-on baggage; over 100 through 160 Wh needs airline approval, with at most two spares. Ordinary spares over 160 Wh are forbidden.
Can I still buy a new Philips DreamStation?
Philips has not resumed U.S. sales of new CPAP machines under the consent decree entered April 9, 2024, and none of the four stores listed one on October 7, 2026. Philips says it will resume only after meeting the decree's requirements. This check covers those catalogs; it does not establish every third-party seller's remaining stock.
Is the React Health G3 X still sold?
Yes. All four stores listed the heated-tube G3 X at $873 on October 7, 2026; Sleep Doctor also listed a no-heated-tube version for $858. The FDA's May 20, 2026 warning letter says the G3X needed a new 510(k) review after design changes, and the FDA will decide whether it may be legally marketed; ask your equipment provider about its current status.
Do I need a prescription to buy a CPAP machine?
Yes. The FDA classifies CPAP systems as Class II prescription devices (product code QBY). Here's help getting a copy of your CPAP prescription, or, if you haven't been diagnosed yet, a look at home sleep test options.
